As most of you know, private Facebook groups have taken over for most family members as the way to keep in touch with each other. However, we will always keep this website available for those that wish to have something outside of Facebook and other for-profit sites free from advertising and data collection. Please contact @traek if you would like to have a site set up for your family. It can be private or public depending on what you want to share.
You can also watch here for news, collaborate with family members in genealogy or just catch up with family without the distractions that come in mainstream social media.

Malan Family Community
Come for the news and stay for the conversation. This site is brought to you by the descendants of John Daniel Malan but all Malans around the world are welcome to join for a free account, start a group or even a free hosted private family blog. We’d love to get to know all of you!
We also have a 501(c)(3) that runs malan.family: Zion Foundation which provides the following benefits to us:
- Shared web hosting (non-commercial only) at no cost
- Personalized Gmail address @malan.family or @malanfamily.com (we can also bring your own family domain to it if you prefer) at no cost
- G Suite for Nonprofits benefits
We also have several services available to us for significant discount (or free) when used for the purposes of our nonprofit. Chances are, if you need any online or technology resources in helping you communicate with or coordinate efforts in family history, engage in your community or teach others about our rich heritage, Zion Foundation likely has many tools that will help you.
As the Executive Director for Zion Foundation, I am happy to talk to anyone in the family to help assess these needs and what resources can be made available. Please contact me @traek or on Facebook.
Early next year I will be publishing a book on the history of the Waldenses. Is there a way, and would you be willing to post or otherwise disseminate information about this book for those who might be interested. Steve Beus
Absolutely, please send it on over and we’ll share it on our family Facebook page.
Thanks for your response and your willingness to share. The book has been published and is now available from Amazon. It is entitled “The Vaudois – Last Faith Standing.” It recounts the 700-year history of the dissident Vaudois or Waldensian Christian group and people from their origins in the 11th century until they achieved full religious freedom in the 19th century.
