The countdown is on—just 30 days until the 2025 Malan Family Reunion begins! We’re excited to welcome descendants of John Daniel Malan of Piedmont, Italy for three days of connection, heritage, and fun in Ogden, Utah.

Whether you can join us for one event or all six, we hope you’ll feel the spirit of family and the strength of our shared roots. Here’s your complete guide to what’s happening:

📖 Wednesday, July 30 – Malan Family History Day

Kick off the reunion with a personal and flexible day of remembrance and storytelling. There’s no set time or place—just meaningful ways to contribute to our family’s story, wherever you are.

📝 No RSVP needed—just participate however you can, and feel free to share what you did at the Ice Cream Social that evening!

⛪ Wednesday, July 30 @ 6:00 PM – Malan Family Temple Night

Endowed adult members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints are invited to a special endowment session at the Ogden Utah Temple in honor of our Malan heritage. Afterward, we’ll meet in on the west side of the Ogden Temple for a family photo.

Please arrive early and RSVP via the Church system here (you must be logged in).

🍦 Wednesday, July 30 @ 7:30 PM – Ice Cream Social

Come one, come all! Whether you joined us at the temple or are just arriving in town, gather across the street from the Ogden Temple for a laid-back evening of ice cream, selfies, and cousin catch-ups.

🌳 Friday, August 1 @ 6:00 PM – Family History Discovery Night

Join us at the Ogden FamilySearch Center for a fun, hands-on evening of exploring your roots! We’ll start with a beginner-friendly class, then enjoy time to mingle, try out interactive exhibits, and get help on your own family tree.

🥾 Saturday, August 2 @ 6:00 AM – Malans Peak Hike

We’ll hike the very peak that bears our family’s name! This moderately challenging trail offers stunning views of the valley our ancestors once called home. Take your time, snap photos, and feel the connection.

🚶 Best for older kids, teens, and adults – bring water, snacks, and sunscreen

🌳 Saturday, August 2 @ 2:00 PM – Picnic in the Park

We’ll wrap up the reunion at beautiful Mount Ogden Park with a bring-your-own-lunch picnic, games for all ages, crafts, a photo booth, and a family raffle and auction! It’s the perfect place to unwind, celebrate our time together, and make new memories.
